Summary

The Rep Fitness AB-3000 FID Adjustable Bench offers incline and decline features on a budget. The steel frame is incredibly solid and offers a 1,000-pound capacity. The bench also features an IPF standard height placement along with a nice thick vinyl backrest that will withstand the test of time.

The Rep AB-3000 FID Adjustable Bench is a workhorse of a weight bench for under $300. This is my favorite budget-friendly bench thanks to a 1,000-pound rating, a solid adjustable build, and a decline option that’s hard to beat for the price.

Let’s start with some of the nicest and most obvious features for the Rep AB-3000 FID. First, the top pad is 17.5-inches high, placing it right in line with IPF powerlifting requirements. The bench is also a decent thickness at 2.5″ and almost a foot wide. If you’re lifting heavy and need extra support, this is a great option. The pad, much like other options from Rep Fitness, is solid but provides enough give to remain comfortable when digging in for heavier bench presses and seated lifts.

I really enjoy the curved padding around the seat area on the Rep AB-3000. My legs never feel like they are digging into the send of the seat’s padding because of Rep’s start design.

I’ve made it no secret that the Prime Fitness USA Adjustable Bench is my favorite option thanks to its lightweight design and plethora of features. With that being said, this Rep Fitness bench is also lightweight at 85 pounds.

This bench also features a foot pad below the seat, allowing for a solid hold when leaving weights at an incline or while seated straight up. I love this option for maintaining my form and it’s one aspect I miss on other benches, especially many FID benches that trade this option for a foot plate at the top of the bench which is used for decline movements, such as decline sit ups.

You can perform a lesser degree of decline movements with the Rep Fitness AB-3000 but not to the level of decline you’ll find on many other FID benches. The bench offers seven angles including -20 (decline), 0 (flat), 20, 35, 50, 65, and 85 degrees.

I do like the newly improved and more grippy vinyl padding that Rep Fitness employs on its current lineup of benches. While you won’t be performing 85 degree sit ups on this bench, you’ll feel well gripped to the padding during decline movements and heavy bench presses.

The AB-3000’s weight is perfect for moving around a home or garage gym. The wheels on the unit are smooth which is nice if you perform a lot of interval training and need to move your bench around regularly.

The Rep Fitness AB-3000 FID Adjustable Bench features 7 back pad adjustments that range from 85 degrees to -20 degrees and there are 3 seat pad adjustments. There’s only a single decline position at -20 degrees which is a bit annoying but overall it’s a small price to pay for a sub-$300 weight bench. Whether you’re looking to use the product in a flat position for bench presses or you need an incline function, you’re going to love the versatility of the product.

Rep Fitness is known for offering excellent pricing with heavy-duty builds and the solid steel frame on the AB-3000 FID Adjustable Bench is thick enough to offer great support without breaking the bank.

One point of note, the large feet that support the bench are a nice addition, providing for a solid grip on rubber flooring. Unlike other benches with solid rubber footing, I don’t use this bench on my newly installed garage flooring, mostly out of fear that it will dig into the floor. Still, the weight of the bench along with its three legged design and wide feet, ensure there is no movement during even the heaviest of lifts.

The bench is so well-made that Rep Fitness offers a 10-year frame warranty. Just keep in mind, there is basically no pad warranty which shouldn’t be a dealbreaker based on the price of this awesome weight bench and the quality of the pad. Rep Fitness also makes replacement parts, such as beat and pad rests, available at prices that are fair.

One of my favorite short-term aspects of this weight bench is the 15 minutes it took to assemble. If you’re the type of person who gets super excited when new gym equipment arrives, you’ll love the very simple assembly.

I confidently call the Rep Fitness AB-3000 a solid light commercial bench. The high quality bench might be priced for a home gym but the bench is built to last, even in a more high-traffic type of scenario. With a solid steel ladder, 11 gauge steel, and a 1000 lbs rating, it’s hard to go wrong with Rep benches of this caliber.
