Summary

The CAP Barbell Olympic 2-Inch Spring Clip Collars fits 2″ Olympic barbells with no-thrills added.

Pros

  • Solid Grip.
  • Excellent Price.

Cons

  • Can be hard to apply if you have weak grip strenght.

This is going to be a quick review. The CAP Barbell Olympic 2-Inch Spring Clip Collars are a simple collar that allows for a solid grip on any standard 2″ Olympic barbell. The collars offer no-thrills with two relatively comfortable black handles and solid steel coil that is surprisingly strong in terms of holding onto the bar.

Several buyers on Amazon have complained that these collars require a decent amount of hand strength to operate correctly. First, I agree, these collars are incredibly tight in their coil. Second, that’s the point. If you suffer from grip strength issues, these CAP Barbell collars are probably not right for you.

With that being said, squeezing these collars from the start to the end of a barbell sleeve leaves them very tight against my Rogue Color Echo Bumper Plates. Even when I nearly accidentally spill 400+ pounds during squat sessions, the collars remain in place.

With Rogue USA Aluminum collars and Proloc 1 collars at my disposal, these are not my go-to barbell collars. However, at a cost of $11.99, they are far cheaper. The CAP Barbell Olympic 2-Inch Spring Clip Collars also feel like these will stay firm for years, a big positive when buying any piece of gym equipment that is likely to get beat up during normal workout sessions.

My one big complaint and this applies to all-steel coil collars, is that they have a tendency to scratch up sleeves faster than other collars. While I never grab for this collar option when using my expensive barbells, I’ll gladly throw them on my beater bars that attach to my Rogue Landmine 2.0 and that haven’t been coated in a nice Cerakote finish.

If you need a no-thrills option, the CAP Barbell Olympic 2-Inch Spring Clip Collars will get the job done for under $15.
